Romanesque

Explain the importance of the holy pilgrimage during the Romanesque era.  Consider the following questions when authoring your answer: In your opinion, which holy site and/or holy relic was the most important and most indicative of this time period? Why?  Why did these believers travel hundreds of miles on foot?  What was the result of these pilgrimages on commerce and development of permanent towns?  Write a two-paragraph minimum answer including your research sources; remember to respond to your classmates work as well.
